Fat Burning, Weight Loss, Diet and Fitness Question of the Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and  or the Fat X program.  Todays question was asked during a fitness consultation I did earlier this week. How do I lose weight only on my stomach?  It's really my only problem area. This is a very common question.  The stomach area or belly just happens to be a fat storage site.  Some people store more fat in the belly or around the waist more than others.  The only way to reduce fat from your stomach, belly or any other body part is to reduce your overall body fat percentage.  Once you drop you're body fat percentage, you will notice the change in your "problem area", whether it's your stomach or any other fat storage site.

A High Protein Low Calorie Diet Meal

Image
I just realized I haven't talked about one of my favorite high protein low calorie meals.  I was first introduced to this meal by my brother a few years ago.  I'll be real honest, it sounds gross, or at least it sounded gross to me.  But like it usually goes, when you're really hungry you'll try just about anything.  So anyway, It's like a tuna sandwich, but you use canned chicken breast instead.  Yeah I know gross, keep reading.  Now instead of mayo, you use mustard instead, yeah I know gross.  Give it a try though, it's surprisingly good, high in protein and low in calories. I usually get the canned chicken breast at Costco.  I'll open up a can and put the chicken breast in a bowl.  I'll add some mustard and mix in together.  Toast up some bread, and bang, you have your chicken breast sandwich.  If you have some extra time you can always add some tomato and lettuce.  I know you amateur chefs can probably spice it up even more.  As a matter of fact, se

Fat Burning, Weight Loss, Diet and Fitness Question of the Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and  or the Fat X program.  Today's question was a e-mailed to me and it was regarding fat burners . I'm starting the Fat X program next Sunday. I was wondering what fat burners are and if I should use them. If so, can you recommend a fat burner. Thanks, Chris Fat burners are nutritional supplements that are supposed to help you lose fat by helping speed up the metabolism. Most fat burners are over hyped, over promise and under deliver. With that being said, there are two natural compounds that through real studies have been shown to help speed up the metabolism. These two compounds are caffeine, and green tea. But remember, while they help, they are only supplements and not a replacement for a good exercise and diet program like the Fat X program.

Isotonix Product Review

Image
A few weeks ago I received a message on myspace about a product called Isotonix. It’s supposed to be a powerful antioxidant that helps maintain healthy cholesterol and blood glucose levels, amongst other claims. I immediately thought “bullshit”, so I replied with a challenge to send me a sample and in return I would review it here. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the rep to take up my challenge, but she did. I received the package in the mail and now it’s my turn to hold up my end of the bargain. I will use the 30 day supply and report on it’s effects or lack of after I use the 30 supply. Part 2

FX Boot Camp Origins

This post is from 2008.  For the last few years I’ve been approached several times by people wanting to hire me as a consultant to their fitness boot camp. After looking over their business plans and goals for their clients, I turned every single one of them down.  The reason has always been the same. They were more interested in making money than producing a program that actually works and is client success driven.   Two months ago I teamed up with a former U.S. Marine and Iraq veteran to work on putting together a boot camp that could be as successful as the Fat X Program and the Fat X Project but in a group environment.  After working closely on this new project, taking everything that works, and scrapping the negatives of other boot camps, we are finally ready, and I’m am happy to announce the beginning of the FX Boot Camp.   Feel free to e-mail me for registration information and any other questions .

Fat Burning, Weight Loss, Diet and Fitness Question of the Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and  or the Fat X program.  Today's question was a e-mailed to me and it was regarding sit ups. Hey, Love the work your doing on your website. Just wondering if you can answer a question I have. I searched the net and can't find answers. What do you put your feet under when you’re doing sit ups? I stick mine under a chest of drawers but find I’m using my legs too much and I’m getting cramping in my thigh (not sure if that’s because my feet are under a chest of drawers lol) Cheers a lot, Will I’m not exactly sure why you’re doing sit ups. There are better exercises to isolate the abs, and if you’re doing it as a full body workout or movement, there are better exercises for that. If you need a good abs exercise I would recommend the spin crunch. It’s demonstrated towards the end of workout 3 of the Fat X program. If you’re looking for a full body workout or mov

Stretching, Flexibility and Fitness

An often overlooked area in fitness is flexibility and stretching. While it is not necessary for the average person to be as flexible as a gymnast, it is important to have a good range of motion. A good amount of flexibility can prevent injuries and will help you stay on the road to achieving  your fitness and fat burning (fat loss) goal. Lower back pain is often caused by tight hamstrings and other leg muscles that can put unnecessary stress on your back. Shoulder and other major muscle injuries can also be prevented by keeping an appropriate range of motion by stretching properly.  Here are two good free stretching videos from youtube that show you stretches you can implement after the Fat X fat burning workouts. Don't let injuries derail your fat burning (fat loss) and fitness goals.  Make sure you implement preventative measures such as stretching into your fitness program.  If you're in the Los Angeles or Pasadena area, feel free to contact me for privat

Fat Burning, Weight Loss, Diet and Fitness Question of the Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and  or the Fat X program.  Today's question is actually sent in to me in different forms quite often and it's regarding getting a flat stomach or tummy. How do I flatten my stomach? Are there specific ab exercises I should be doing? Stomach flattening, or any other body part flattening, lengthening or shortening is impossible through natural means. The possibility of this is a myth perpetuated by the fitness industry and their marketing schemes to make money. Fat is spread throughout your body and tends to settle in certain areas that are larger storage sites than others, such as the butt, thighs, and stomach. When you have a properly designed program, these areas appear to “flatten”, but it’s only the fact that overall body fat is being reduced and is more likely noticed in these storage sites. So if you want to “flatten” your stomach, you have to reduce you

Low Calorie Fat Burning and Weight Loss Snack Idea

I try to make the last meal of the day a low calorie snack so as to keep off excess fat and weight gain. My go to snack is peanut butter and celery. Lately though, I’ve been trying to cut my calories a bit towards the end of the day because of some extra calories I’ve been sneaking in earlier in the day. So the last few nights I’ve been eating cucumber slices flavored with a bit of salt and lemon. I’m happy to report that it’s extremely filling and quite tasty. I’ve also noticed, without any other changes, that my belt needs to be tightened a bit more. Now this might just be a coincidence, but if you’re interested in lowering you calories with a tasty snack, add this to you diet and I’m sure it will help your weight loss and fat burning results.

Diet Habits

Image
Do you have more good habits than bad? If not, you should start working on building good habits. When it comes down to losing weight, maintaining weight, or just simply being fit and living a healthy lifestyle, it all comes down to incorporating good habits into your daily ritual.  It’s not always easy to build good habits, actually it’s probably never easy, but it’s definitely doable and advantageous to do so. If you’re finding it difficult to stick to a healthy diet and develop healthy habits, here’s a strategy you can try: Pick one thing from the list and implement it beginning today and continue for the rest of the week.  Then choose another, and add that one to your daily ritual. Before you know it you would have developed a few basic healthy diet habits that will help you on the road to a healthy lifestyle. • Eat 4-6 small meals each day   • Add vegetables to your diet every day   • Drink plenty of water   • Plan out your next day’s meals   • Have good fats e

Fat Burning, Weight Loss, Diet and Fitness Question of the Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and  or the Fat X program.  Today's question was a comment responding to last weeks Q & A. Salads: Are you using any salad dressing and if so what kind ? Thank you for this question. It actually reminds me of an issue that I had with a client a while back. The first month or so she was with me her results were great, but then she hit an unexpected plateau. It was really boggling because of the fact that when I looked at her food log, everything looked fine. As I studied her food log a little closer I noticed she was having a salad for lunch almost every day. I questioned her about the salad and she told me that it was the one from McDonalds that she would have for lunch. At that point I realized that I had not gone over with her the issue of dressing. She was inputting the salad in her food journal, but she wasn’t including the dressing. The dressing she w

Post Workout Nutrition On The Go

The last week or so I’ve been really busy so I’ve needed something quick and easy after my work out. I started using a vanilla protein powder mixed in Gatorade.   I’ve been using the new G2 Gatorade that has less sugar to obviously keep the calories low. I’m happy to report that it’s been working out well and the taste is actually really good.   The way I make it is I drink a bit of the Gatorade and then pour in some vanilla protein powder. I shake it up and it’s good to go, fast and easy. If you’re short on time and want to make sure you’re getting in your post work out nutrition in, I would definitely recommend it.
