Tips and Tricks For Staying on Track on Vacation?Q&A of The Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and or the Fat X Program (FX12).  I was a bit busy last week but I'm back today with a question that was e-mailed in and it's regarding tips for when going on vacation.

Hello Coach,
My name is Julia and I've been doing your fat burning program since February.  I've lost weight and I'm pretty sure it's mostly from fat.  I can really notice in my belly and thighs.  Anyway, I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I really want to continue progressing.  I'll be on vacation for a week.  Are there any tips and tricks you have for staying on track while on vacation?

My number one tip for staying on track while on vacation is more of a pre-emtive strike.  My philosophy is to work hard so that you can play hard.  When I know I'm going to be on vacation, I really focus on eating healthy via the Fat X diet, and working out hard before I leave.  That way I can enjoy myself on vacation, rest my body, and my mind so that when I get back I'm re-motivated, refreshed and ready to get back to eating healthy and working out.

Just like the diet breaks I've written about before, make sure you have a plan for when you return from vacation.  You want to avoid the pitfall of not having a plan/strategy to follow when you return and fall back into bad habits.  I hope this helps and enjoy your vacation! Relax, even if you take a step backward in your progress, being refreshed can really re-ignite your motivation and your drive to continue with your fat burning, weight loss and fitness journey.

Where's Richard and His Six Pack?

A few months ago a friend of mine, Richard, contacted me to let me know he had been doing the Fat X Program (FX12) workouts , diet and following the advice here at Fat X 101.  Even though he was already thin, and had a flat stomach, he told me he used the FX 12 and the tips and tricks here at Fat X 101 to get in even better shape.  He sent in the before and after pictures and the results were clearly evident, he burned some fat and his six pack abs where now in place.

I'm proud to say that I've recently touched base with Richard and he is still continuing his healthy living and fitness lifestyle.  He used the motivation from his before and after pictures to propel himself into signing up to do a sprint triathlon.  There's twenty days before he competes and I want to wish him the best of luck.

Here is his updated picture.  He's kept the fat he burned off...well off. His six pack is still in tact, and he's still on track with his health and fitness lifestyle.  Congrats!  If you haven't started the FX 12, right now is the perfect time to start.  Memorial Day weekend is a few weeks ahead, there's plenty of time to burn off some fat, get fit and expose those abs. It's swimsuit time!  Let's do this!

Summer Body Checklist Tips and Tricks

Whether you're doing the FX 12 program or not, here is a checklist that will get you on track to burning the fat, losing the weight and getting in shape for Summer.  If you can answer yes to these questions, then that belly fat will be well on it's way to disappearing. If you're answering no, then take them as 10 tips and tricks to get your body ready for Summer.

Are you lifting weights/ doing resistance training?

Are you using the heaviest weight possible in your exercises?

Are you eating vegetables every day?

Are you eating berries every day?

Are you consuming good fat (EFA's) from nuts and or fish every day?

Are you taking in your lean body weight's amount of protein in grams?

Are you consuming green tea in some form?

Answering yes to these question will get you on track to getting your fit and toned Summer body.  If you're answering yes, plus doing the FX 12 program then you're on the fast track to losing the belly fat, getting fit and toned for the Summer.  Good luck and don't wait until Summer to start getting Summer body ready.

What Body Fat Percentage Do I need To See Abs? Q&A of The Week

Every week I answer a question or questions that are sent in to me regarding fat burning, weight loss, diet, fitness and or the Fat X program. I've been a little busy but I'm back and today's question is in regards to losing belly fat and body fat percentage in order to see abs. 

Hi Coach,
I have some belly fat that I want to get rid of so I can get a six pack for the summer.  I went to get it checked and they told me I was at 14% body fat.  How low do I need to get that to see abs and how many times through you program do you think I would need.

Generally speaking, in order to begin seeing your abs, your body fat has to under 10%. The closer you get to 5% the more ripped and defined they're going to look.  When I slack off and relax too much, my body fat percentage will go over 10% and it usually takes me one time through the FX 12  to get in back under.  If I do it again soon enough I really get my abs to show. My FX 12 project for 2010 is a good example.  Good luck!

Summer Body Time

It's time to start burning the fat, losing the weight, getting fit and getting your Summer body ready.  If you're motivated and want to join a fitness class/boot camp and live in the Pasadena area, my new FX Boot Camp begins on Monday.  This time around I will be limiting class size so as to focus more on each individuals needs.  I will also be monitoring diet to insure the best fat burning, weight loss and fitness results possible.

The new exclusive FX Boot Camp will have classes available three times a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It's conducted in a workout area to the rear of my residence in Pasadena.

Unlike all other boot camps, mine revolves around anaerobic training, which has been proven to be more effective in getting a fit and toned body.  If you're familiar with the FX 12 workouts, the workout you will get at the FX Boot Camp will be very similar.
