Athletic Greens Review - Coach Rollie

athletic greens review
In my last post, I made a point that the best way to lose body fat is by getting healthier.  Exercise and a healthy diet are necessary components for a healthy body and a healthy life.  For many people, the eating, or diet part can be a difficult.  Fueling the body properly can be a challenge.

Supplements can be helpful in filling in nutritional gaps.  One of the supplements that I recommend to my clients is a multi-mineral/multi-vitamin.  But, there’s many on the market.  Luckily for readers of Fat X 101, recently I was contacted by Athletic Greens and asked if I would be willing to use their product and give feedback. I looked over the ingredient list in their product and agreed.

I was sent a 30 day supply of Athletic Greens Premium Superfood Cocktail right before I went on vacation in June.  I decided to wait until after I came back from vacation to begin using the product.  I did this because when I go on vacation, I relax!  That means I don’t exactly watch my diet very well.  Also, it’s tough to get back on track when returning from vacation. I figured taking Athletic Greens at this time would give me a much needed nutritional boost, and, I could give an honest review as to whether it helped or not.

Before I get into my thoughts and experience with the product, let me give you a brief overview of why I decided to use the Athletic Greens product.
One, the ingredient list was impressive.  It contains over 70 whole food ingredients.  Each package contains 420 mg of Vitamin C (700% of RDA), 100IU of Vitamin E (332% of RDA), 28 mcg of Vitamin B12 (466% of RDA) as well as other vitamins and minerals.  Each package also contains an alkaline, nutrient dense, raw superfood complex.  They’ve also added nutrient dense natural extracts and antioxidants.

Another very important reason I decided to try out Athletic Greens is that I’m a big believer that good digestion and healthy gut bacteria are essential for a healthy body.  Along with the ingredients that I listed, Athletic Greens also contains digestive enzymes, a super mushroom complex and probiotics.

So in writing, all those ingredients look great, but, how did the product work for me?

Before I went on vacation, I developed a good habit of making a high nutrient protein shake every morning.  This shake took me about 5-7 minutes to make and it included frozen kale, spinach, ginger, berries, kefir ( a type of yogurt high in probiotics) and some protein.

The shake was working well for me.  It was relatively easy to make, my workouts were going well, and I felt great.  When I came back from vacation, I decided that I would use the Athletic Greens product in place of my protein shake.

The Athletic Greens product is extremely convenient.  The 30 day supply comes in a box with 30 individual packets.  All I had to do was open a packet and pour it in my water bottle.  This took 30 seconds as opposed to 5-7 minutes.

I’ve battled skin issues since I was a kid.  Acne was the main culprit and it seems to have been genetic as my mom and one on my uncles both have scars on their face, as I do.  As an adult, I still battle skin issues and when I don’t eat healthy, these skin issues flare up.  Now, the main culprit can be dry scaly skin around my nose and forehead.  Luckily, when I’m eating healthy and nourishing my body, these issues stay at bay.

Even though I replaced my morning protein and nutrient dense protein shake in the morning with the Athletic Greens product, my skin did not flare up, and it seems to look a bit better.  I would say that Athletic Greens did a good job of giving my body the nutrients it needed as my low nutrient alarm system, my skin, did not go off.

When I’m not eating healthy and nourishing my body properly, I feel slow and sluggish the morning after a tough workout.  While taking Athletic Greens, I felt good in the mornings.  To me, this is another sign that the product is working well to provide nourishment and providing fuel to heal and help the body.

Would I recommend the product?  Yes. But, I would advise anyone that’s interested in Athletic Greens to visit www.AthleticGreens.com and do their own research.  It's a bit pricey though, so you have to balance that out with it's utility.

If you’ve used the product, feel free to post your experience in the comment section below.
