Abs Tips - The Reverse Crunch Secrets for Best Results

abs exercise coach rollie pasadena fitness
When I was in middle school, I was taking Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate in Pasadena.  While I was there, one of the instructors chose me to be part of a demonstration and competition team that would be competing at the Long Beach International Karate Championships. I was a kid back then and barely learning how to exercise properly.

Long story short, one night I saw one of my teammates exercising.  He was doing an abs exercise I had never seen before.

When I tried it, I immediately felt my abs struggling and burning!

Anyway, many years later that exercise is still one of my favorites and part of my 12 Day Fat X Program. I put together a quick video showcasing that abs exercise.

The exercise is the Reverse Crunch.

The Reverse Crunch became one of the exercises that really began to revolutionize my understanding of training abs.  Done properly, the Reverse Crunch can can do wonders for your abs.

Here’s a quick video I put together walking through the exercise and a few tips.  Below, I’ll write them out, and I'll link to a book where I learned it.

He learned it from a book called “Legendary Abs II”.  I tried the exercise and was amazed at how hard it was on my abs.  When I got home, I immediately ordered a copy for myself.  If you’re looking to add a solid exercise book to your library, I would definitely suggest it.  Anyway, let me get into some tips on the Reverse Crunch.

Tip #1:
Make sure to keep your head off the mat.  I instruct my clients to tuck their chin in.

Tip #2:
Bring your legs up to a perpendicular position.

Tip #3:
Kick your legs up towards the ceiling/sky

Tip #4:
When you kick your legs up, do so with enough force to raise your lower back off the floor.

Super Tip:

For those of you that are more advanced, try creating some hang time.  In other words, when you kick your legs up and your lower back is off the floor, keep you lower back off the floor as long as possible.

The Reverse Crunch is one of the exercises in my 12 Day Fat X Program

You can also try it in my Fab 4 Workout.  That workout is free and it will give you an opportunity to test the effectiveness of the exercise.  If you haven’t already tried my method, the Fab 4 Workout will give you an insight into my philosophy that workouts need to be effective, practical and efficient. You'll get a great workout in a short amount of time.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  I only succeed if you do so I’ll do my best to help you!  Are you in the Pasadena area? Feel free to contact me to try a free FX Boot Camp class, or for private fitness coaching (personal training).
